SAVANNAH , Ga. , May 9, 2007 – A wide-cabin, high-speed G150 business jet set two city-pair speed records during a recent 17-leg, around-the-world tour conducted by Gulfstream to demonstrate the super-mid-size airplane’s versatility. It was on the last two legs of the 23,360-nautical mile journey – from Farnborough , U.K., to Gander, Newfoundland, Canada , and from Gander to Savannah – that the two records were established.
Piloted by Gulfstream international demonstration captain Mike Jarrett and Gulfstream demonstration captain Mike Perry, the G150 took off from Farnborough International Airport at 12:43 p.m. local time on April 3. With two passengers on board, the G150 flew 2,196 nautical miles, landing 4 hours, 24 minutes later at Gander International Airport.
After the G150 was refueled, pilots Jarrett and Perry set the second city-pair speed record on their final leg of the world tour. The G150 flew 1,600 nautical miles in 3 hours and 42 minutes, landing at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport at 3:28 p.m., local time.
Gulfstream has submitted applications to the National Aeronautic Association to confirm the new records.
